Biographical history

Frans Breugelmans werd geboren in Lier op 11 maart 1905. Zijn studentenjaren bracht hij door in Leuven. In 1930 studeerde hij af als geneesheer. Al vrij snel werd hij politiek actief binnen de Katholieke Vlaamse Volkspartij. In 1938 werd hij verkozen tot gemeenteraadslid. Van 1958 tot 1976 was hij burgemeester van Lier. Hij overleed in Lier op 27 mei 2000.
