History
Van 1689 tot 1750 had men het "Bakkershuis" (links naast het Vleeshuis op de Grote Markt, nr. 53). In 1750 kwamen de huizen "Cleynen Palmboom" en "Den Palmboom (Grote Markt 41 en 42), in hun bezit en kwam daar "Het Bakkershuis". "Het Steen", op de Vismarkt (tot midden 16de eeuw stadsgevangenis) werd een tijdlang als opslagplaats verhuurd aan het bakkersambacht en "Bakkerstoren" genoemd. In 1796, onder het Franse bewind, werden de ambachten afgeschaft en in 1798 werden hun bezittingen openbaar verkocht.
